Tow weight limitations for these racks is 2000 – 3500 lbs. Most of the bike racks comes with locking device and a pin for securing rack to the automobile. Types of Bike Racks

Fixed Frame Carriers
Extremely powerful type and able to handle up to 4 bikes. They generally don’t collapse or swing out of the way.

Tray Racks
The bike sits in tray with this rack. These can carry any type of bike. Mostly they have capacity to carry 2 bikes but with converter kit it can safely carry 4 bikes.

Hanging Rack
This is the most common type of hitch bike rack and can carry up to 5 bikes. This will not support any non standard bike.

Towing Racks
According to it’s name it can carry 4 bikes and additionally tow a boat or small trailer which weights up to 2000 – 3500 lbs.

Ball Attached
These types are best for the vehicles having bumper with ball attached to it. The disadvantage of this kind rack is limitation to it’s weighing capacity and strength of bumper. Mostly these type of racks don’t collapse.
